Peveril Castle in the Peak District, Derbyshire, is one of the oldest Norman castles in England being built by Henry II in 1176.
It’s in an amazing location high above Castleton providing stunning views over the village, as well as Cave Dale and out towards the peak of Mam Tor and the surrounding hills and valley.
The castle is managed by English Heritage and is worth a visit if you’re in the area, but I will warn you it is a very steep walk up the hill to get to the top! There are a few benches on the way up to have a rest though, and the views are defintely worth it!
