Back in late summer last year, having been stuck in the house for one too many weeks due to coronavirus restrictions, I was in desperate need to get out for some fresh air after work one night. Being a lovely clear evening I headed to Cononley Lead Mine, close to Keighley in West Yorkshire.
Mining at the site dates back to the 1530’s and the times of Henry VIII, with the current buildings having been built around 300 years later in the mid-19th century. It’s quite a small site but makes for quite a cool place to explore… definitely recommended if you fancy something a bit different to explore when going out for a walk!
